hello and welcome wonderful ladies, gentlemen, neithers, boths, and inbetweens to day 3 of milkas' expression corner !! today i'll be talking about what it means to be RECIPROMANTIC since i've seen drama on twitter today based entirely on misconceptions and it hurts me to see myself be hated on based on lies !!
"Recipromantic" is a label on the aromantic spectrum (which is part of the aro-ace spectrum) that indicates a complete lack of romantic interest in any given person, until the moment that a recipromantic person finds out that somebody loves them, at which point they can love back.
any given person can be recipromantic, no matter their gender, sexuality, or any other arbitrary factors.
the ace equivalent is called "Reciprosexual", and it means that the given person cannot feel sexual attraction in any capacity until they feel loved back sexually. the roseic counterpart (meaning that both apply at the same time) is called "Reciprorose".
there is a common misconception going around right now on twitter that being recipromantic is simply a preference, and it's not true at all because recipromantic people cannot feel ANY romantic attraction until they feel loved back romantically, whereas alloromantic people can feel at least some sort of romantic attraction and do not have a complete roadblock in that regard.
it is also sometimes called "Reciproromantic".
the prefix "recipro-" comes from the word "reciprocate" or "reciprocal".
the most common flag consists of hot pink, pink, lime green, white, and black stripes, in that order, though there is an alternate version of the flag without the lime green stripe in the middle.
