hello ladies, gentlemen, neithers, boths and inbetweens and welcome to day 9 of milkas' expression corner !!
today we'll be discussing what it means to be BISEXUAL!! (as well as, by extension, bi in general !!)
"Bisexual" is an umbrella term meaning that a given individual feels sexual attraction towards multiple genders. a bisexual person may feel attraction towards any number of genders, from two to all.
the romantic equivalent is called "Biromantic", and it means that a person feels romantic attraction towards multiple genders. the prefix "bi-" means two, as bisexuals are attracted to two or more genders.
some microlabels include:
"Pansexual" - a person who feels attraction entirely unrelated to gender
"Omnisexual" - a person who feels attraction strongly towards one gender, though may at times feel attraction towards other genders as well
"Polysexual" - a person who feels attraction towards multiple genders, though not necessarily all of them
however, it is debated whether this definition of "bisexual" is truly correct - some consider the term polysexual to be obsolete and bisexual to be in its place, while the term "Multisexual umbrella" is used in this context as the umbrella term for sexualities regarding attraction towards multiple genders. i have decided to cover the subject regarding my personal preference, though i find it important to mention that the terms are highly debated and unclear in general.
the term bisexual is also often confused as attraction towards only men and women, though this is untrue as bisexuals can feel attraction towards any number of genders regardless of definition. due to this widespread conspiracy, as well as other personal reasons, biphobia has been rampant in many queer communities lately, reducing bi individuals to simply "straight" or "gay". this is untrue because bi individuals are bi regardless of who they're dating.
the bi flag consists of a large fuschia stripe on top, a smaller purple stripe in the middle, and a large blue stripe at the bottom.
the B in "LGBTQIA+" stands for bi.
"A young Buffalo asked his father - "Dad, what does it mean if I like both cows and bulls?"
